Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long will it take to complete the Certificate Program?

    The Certificate Program is completely self-paced, so completion time varies by student. Each lecture is approximately 1-2 hours. The program consists of three modules, which each consist of the following: • 8 lectures per module • 6 questions per lecture • Lecture notes outline Depending on the amount of time students dedicate to the Certificate Program per week, they can take anywhere from one month to one year or longer to complete it. The good news is there’s no time limit or expiration date so you can go as fast or slow as you would like!

  • How can I apply my Certificate work towards an M.A. Christian Apologetics or M.A. Science & Religion?

    There are three steps necessary to apply the Certificate Program for M.A. credit: Step 1: Apply to Biola University and be accepted into one of our M.A. programs Step 2: Email [email protected] with your intention to apply your completed certificate as advanced standing. In your email, please include your Biola student ID number and the number of units you'd like to apply to the program. You have the option to enroll in as few as 1 unit and as many as 3 units. Step 3: Once processed, you will need to complete the necessary steps for enrollment in Talbot School of Theology, including paying the full tuition rate for the units you are enrolled in.

  • Will I be able to interact with the professor(s) during the courses?

    The Certificate Program is asynchronous and uses pre-recorded lectures to make for an independent learning experience that offers flexibility to all of our students. There are no professors facilitating the course, but if you need support or have questions, you can always reach out to [email protected].

  • Will I receive a transcript for completing the Certificate Program?

    Please note that because this is not a transcripted program, no transcript will be issued after completion of these modules.

About the Course Authors

Chris Brooks

Chris Brooks is the Pastor of Woodside Bible Church near Detroit. He holds degrees from Michigan State University and Biola University and is currently pursuing a doctorate. He hosts a national radio program, “Equipped with Chris Brooks,” and speaks widely on issues of faith, culture, and apologetics.

Emeritus Research Professor of Philosophy, Talbot School of Theology William Lane Craig

William Lane Craig is a visiting scholar and Emeritus Research Professor at Biola University. He holds two Master’s degrees and two doctorates. Having written over thirty books and spoken and debated all around the world, he is widely respected as one of the foremost Christian apologists of his generation.

Professor of Apologetics, Talbot School of Theology Sean McDowell

Sean McDowell is an Associate Professor of Christian Apologetics at Biola University in the Talbot School of Theology. He earned M.A. degrees from Talbot in both philosophy and theology, and his Ph.D. from Southern Seminary in Apologetics and Worldview Studies. He has authored many books and articles, and he hosts a podcast and YouTube channel with episodes that have been viewed nearly 50 millions times.

Rebecca McLaughlin

Rebecca McLaughlin is an apologist and author of Confronting Christianity, Christianity Today’s 2019 Book of the Year. Rebecca has a theology degree from Oak Hill College in London and a Ph.D. in English literature from the University of Cambridge. She moved from the UK to the US in 2008, where she served for nine years with The Veritas Forum.

Distinguished Professor of Philosophy J.P. Moreland

J.P. Moreland is Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at Biola University in the Talbot School of Theology. He has degrees in chemistry, theology, and philosophy, and Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Southern California. He has authored many books and articles, and he was selected in August 2016 by The Best Schools as one of the 50 most influential living philosophers in the world.

Greg Koukl

Greg Koukl is the founder and President of the apologetics ministry, Stand to Reason. He has two Master’s degrees, one an M.A. from Talbot School of Theology, where he also serves as an adjunct professor in apologetics. He has published seven books in the area of Christian apologetics.
